How to care Alocasia Curly Bambino:

Light: To ensure optimal growth and vitality, it is recommended to position your Alocasia in front of an Eastern or Western facing window. These orientations provide a moderate amount of indirect sunlight that the plant thrives in. If direct sunlight is not available, placing it immediately in front of windows with no direct sun is also suitable.

Water: Maintaining adequate moisture levels is crucial for the well-being of your Alocasia plant, as it is not drought resistant. Strive to keep the soil consistently moist, ensuring it receives the hydration it requires. To ensure proper hydration for your Alocasia plant, it is recommended to water it thoroughly until water drains out of the pot. After watering, wait until the top inch of the soil has dried out, then you can water your Curly Bambino plant again.

Humidity: While Alocasia plants can tolerate average humidity levels, they will certainly appreciate higher humidity if you can provide it. Increasing humidity can create a more favorable environment for your Alocasia's growth and overall well-being.

Propagating the Alocasia plant is a straightforward process that involves rhizome division. Follow these steps:

  1. Begin with a healthy and mature Alocasia plant that is ready for propagation.
  2. When repotting the plant, carefully separate the rhizomes. Rhizomes are thick, underground stems from which new shoots and roots emerge.
  3. Gently divide the rhizomes, ensuring that each section has sufficient roots and a viable growing point. It's best to use a clean and sharp tool, such as a sterilized knife or shears, to make clean cuts.
  4. Prepare a pot with a soil mix similar to that of the mother plant. A well-draining mix containing peat moss, perlite, and a bit of organic matter can work well.
  5. Plant the new rhizome start in the pot, making sure it is positioned at an appropriate depth. The growing point or bud should be slightly above the soil surface.
  6. After planting, keep the soil consistently moist during the acclimation and maturing period of the new plant. Avoid overwatering, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot.
  7. Provide the propagated plant with appropriate light conditions and maintain a suitable temperature to support its growth.

Enjoy the rewarding process of expanding your plant collection and witnessing the growth of new Alocasia babies.
