Rebel Plants stocks over 95 large plant pots in this range, across ceramic, metal, concrete, eco-friendly, fiberstone, and composite materials, in every colour from rich rust and midnight black to soft sage, cobalt blue, and warm ochre yellow. Rebel Plants is based in London and delivers UK-wide, so whatever you are looking for can be with you quickly and in perfect condition.

What Size Plant Pot Do I Need?

All pots in this collection are measured by external diameter, so the opening for your plant will be slightly smaller. As a general rule, choose a pot opening around 1 to 2cm larger than your plant's current nursery pot. This gives roots room to grow without leaving excess soil that stays wet too long between waterings. You can find the exact pot opening size on each product page, and our sizing guide covers everything you need to know if you are unsure. A pot liner is a practical choice for pots without drainage holes, keeping your plant's nursery pot neatly in place while protecting your surfaces.

Which Plant Pot Material is Best for Indoor Plants?

Glazed ceramic is the most popular choice for indoor houseplants because it retains moisture well, comes in the widest variety of styles and colours, and suits virtually every interior. If you prefer a cooler, more architectural feel, the concrete and fiberstone pots in this range bring satisfying visual weight without the full heaviness of solid stone. Metal pots are lightweight and easy to move, ideal if you rearrange your displays regularly. Eco-friendly options from Elho use recycled materials without compromising on design, a genuinely good choice for conscious buyers. For details on how each material affects root health and watering, our Ultimate Guide to Plant Pots covers every material in depth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Plants Suit a 16 to 20cm Pot?

A Monstera or similarly sized houseplant growing in a 12 to 14cm nursery pot will be comfortable in a decorative pot with an opening of around 13 to 16cm. Always move up one pot size at a time rather than jumping to something significantly larger, as too much extra soil around the roots can hold moisture and increase the risk of root rot. You can check the exact opening size of every pot in this collection on its individual product page.

Do Large Plant Pots Need Drainage Holes?

Most pots in this collection are designed without drainage holes, which protects your flooring and furniture. We recommend keeping your plant in its nursery pot and placing it inside the decorative pot, using a waterproof plant pot liner for extra protection. Some styles do offer a drainage-hole option, and this is clearly noted in the individual listing. If you need a pot with drainage, you can filter by this feature across the full Rebel Plants plant pot collection.

What is the Difference Between External Diameter and Pot Opening Size?

External diameter is the widest measurement of the pot from outside edge to outside edge. Pot opening size is the actual internal measurement at the top of the pot, which is the only measurement that tells you whether your plant's nursery pot will fit inside. Rebel Plants lists both measurements for every product, so there's no guesswork. For a full explanation of how to measure and match pot sizes, see our sizing guide.

Are Ceramic Plant Pots Better Than Plastic?

Ceramic pots are highly versatile for indoor houseplants, as they retain moisture well and come in a wide variety of designs. Metal pots are lightweight and easy to reposition. Fiberstone offers the look of stone at a much lighter weight, making it practical for larger specimens on shelves or plant stands. For a full breakdown of every material and which plants suit each one, read our Ultimate Guide to Plant Pots.

Can Large Plant Pots Be Used Outdoors?

Some pots in this collection are suitable for outdoor use, including many of the fiberstone, fiberclay, and composite options. Glazed ceramics are generally not frost-proof and can crack in hard frosts, so check the individual product listing for outdoor suitability before purchasing. Every listing clearly states whether the pot is indoor-only or suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
