Frequently Asked Questions
How much light and water does a Strelitzia need?
Strelitzia are sun-lovers. They thrive in bright, direct to indirect light. Placing your Bird of Paradise near a south-facing window is ideal. Without enough light, the plant may grow slowly or fail to produce its iconic architectural leaves. Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry. In the UK, this is usually once a week in spring and summer, reducing to every 10-14 days in autumn and winter. Always allow excess water to drain away.
Why are the leaves on my Strelitzia plant splitting?
Leaf splitting is a natural evolutionary trait of the Strelitzia. In the wild, these slits allow wind to pass through the leaves without catching and snapping the plant. This "shabby-chic" look is typical of the plant's tropical aesthetic and does not indicate the plant is unhealthy.
Which pot is best for a Bird of Paradise?
Because Strelitzia can grow quite tall and top-heavy, we recommend our Large Pot Collection for stability.
Do you offer fast UK delivery for large Strelitzia?
Yes! Shipping large Strelitzia requires expertise. From our London studio, we use reinforced, extra-tall packaging to protect the foliage during nationwide shipping. Your plants and pots will be delivered fast and ready to transform your space.

Wonderful plants and excellent service
Absolutely love them, ordered 2 and they both arrived exactly as I expected, very well packaged, fun and quirky plant that we’ll enjoy growing.
Great quality, heavy pot that completes my collection...up to now anyway until the plants grow out of them and need repotting. Matched up with others of various sizes and colour ( green)
Beautiful plant, well packaged and well cared for. Happy with my purchase, thank you
Surprised and delighted that the non-blooming option I chose turned out to be an orchid in full bloom! I have not noticed very much scent but I imagine that could be because the flowers are a little older. Absolutely beautiful regardless.
