How to Care Phalaenopsis Orchid:

Light: We suggest placing your orchid in a bright room, but avoid exposing it to direct sunlight.

Soil: Orchids do not thrive in regular potting soil or potting mix, as they require a specialized growing medium that is both lightweight and quick-draining. You may purchase a pre-made orchid growing medium, or create your own by combining materials such as bark, sphagnum moss, perlite, and peat. It's important to note that the ideal pH for an orchid's growing medium is slightly acidic.

Water: In order to prevent rot, it's important to allow your orchid to dry out between waterings. To determine when it's time to water your plant, check if the growing medium feels dry to the touch and if the pot feels light. Alternatively, you can examine the roots themselves - plump and white or green roots indicate they're well-watered, while shrivelled and grey roots signify a need for water.

The simplest method for watering your orchid is to soak it in a bowl of water once every week or two, depending on when the growing medium dries out.  By soaking your orchid, you'll ensure the entire growing medium is thoroughly saturated, and the roots have access to the water they need to thrive.

Feed: Throughout the growing season, it's recommended to use a fertilizer specifically formulated for orchids and follow the instructions on the label carefully. Avoid fertilizing during winter, as the plant's growth rate slows.

Hint: To encourage new blooms, it's important to prune old wood from your orchid properly. However, it's important to note that different types of orchids require different pruning methods. When pruning, use a sharp, sterilized tool to ensure a clean cut and prevent the spread of any potential diseases or infections. This will help to maintain the overall health of your orchid.
